AdOpt

Developed by: the United Kingdom Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP) (2006)

The Identifying Adaptation Options (AdOpt) guidance covers identifying and selecting adaptation options and is one of the steps in the Adaptation Wizard. It also builds on the UKCIP Risk, Uncertainty and Decision-making Framework and Measuring Progress, providing information on the range of adaptation options available, along with practical examples. It presents a simple checklist which identifies key principles for good adaptation decisions.

Equity is included as one of its guiding principles so it helps in understanding the possible causes of uneven impacts from climate-related events, such as floods and heatwaves. In addition, it includes a section on working with a range of people and groups and highlights communities who will feel positive and negative impacts from adaptation options.
